Chisinau, 19 January /MOLDPRES/ - Officers of the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) and anticorruption prosecutors have detained a man from Chisinau, after he would have claimed a bribe of 750 euros, in order to easier issue a driver’s licence.
According to CNA, the man would have given assurances that he can influence the members of the examinations commission of the Cahul-based Section of Road Transport Registration and Drivers’ Qualification of the Public Services Agency (ASP) to give marks of passing the written and practical exams and that he can prompt them to subsequently issue the driver’s licence.
The suspect would have acted in coordination with another two young persons from his entourage, who are now suspected of complicity in offence. A criminal file for influence peddling was opened on this case.
Anticorruption officers made raids with searches at the homes of the three suspects. As a result, the officers raised the devices from which phone conversations were held for ‘’arranging’’ the issuance of the driver’s licence. Presently, one of the suspects is detained for 72 hours and is in the custody of CNA. If found guilty, the three men run the risk of being sentenced to up to 7 years of imprisonment.
