Moldovan parliament speaker meets Romanian PM

Chisinau, 11 February /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today had a meeting with Prime Minister of Romania Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca, on a visit to Chisinau, in the context of the joint meeting of the governments of Moldova and Romania, the parliament’s communication and public relations general department has reported.
Attending the event on behalf of the parliament were the head of the parliament’s commission for foreign policy and European integration, Doina Gherman and the head of the friendship group with Romania, Veronica Rosca.
Igor Grosu welcomed the presence of the high official guest from Romania in Moldova’s parliament. He described the today’s joint meeting of the two cabinets in Chisinau as a historical event with a great emotional content, as well as with an important practical content.
”For us, the political establishment and the country’s citizens, this is a signal of support and encouraging on this complicated period, full of challenges. I will do what I always do – I will thank the government and the citizens of Romania for the every disinterested support provided to Moldova,’’ the speaker said.
The parliament speaker stressed that the decisions taken today at the joint meeting of the two cabinets would be turned to good account with all responsibility, so that its benefits are felt by each citizen.
At the same time, Igor Grosu and Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca discussed possibilities of further extending the very good relations of Moldovan-Romanian partnership, especially in up-to-date fields, such as the energy security, commercial and economic cooperation and the investment collaboration.
”We go through difficult times, especially as regards the energy crisis. The wave of increases in prices equally toughly hit the citizens from both banks of the Prut river, as well as the entire Europe. We have managed to come up with a package of compensations worth 2.6 billion lei, assistance for about 1 million families. Yet, we are confident that together, acting in consolidated way, we will overcome these unprecedented challenges and we look with confidence into the good, nice and prosperous future for our people from both banks of Prut,’’ Igor Grosu said.
The officials were unanimous about the importance of the bilateral parliamentary activity, which gives possibility to take over the legislative experiences of Romania in the process of implementing the reforms and attraction of European funds in diverse sectors.
The sides agreed to jointly identify new lines of cooperation, in order to combat together the current challenges and, at the same time, to boost the development processes in all sectors: infrastructure, health, education, mass media, etc.
Igor Grosu reiterated that the Moldovan authorities were determined to carry through the fight against corruption, the reformation of the justice system, resetting of the state’s institutions, by creating the basis necessary for the country’s development and enhancing the people’s well-being.
