Alexei Gherțescu could be new head of Competition Council

Chisinau, 16 Feb. / MOLDPRES /- The Parliamentary Committee on Economy, Budget and Finance today approved Alexei Gherțescu's candidacy for the position of President of the Competition Council and will propose approval to the plenary of the Legislature.
Alexei Gherțescu has a law degree and a master's degree in civil law. He worked in the law firm Alexei Gherțescu, the United Nations Development Program, was a lecturer at the Free International University of Moldova, has work experience in some private companies. He is a member of the Moldovan Bar Association.
The former president of the Plenum of the Competition Council, Marcel Răducan, was released from office on August 11, 2021, based on the resignation request.
According to the legislation, the members of the Plenum of the Competition Council, including the president, are appointed to office by a decision of the Parliament, at the proposal of the President of the Legislature, with the opinion of the parliamentary committee.
