Bashkan meets Turkish Consul in Comrat

Chisinau, March 1 / MOLDPRES /- The situation in the region was discussed today by governor of Gagauzia Irina Vlah at a meeting with Hasan Akdoğan, Consul General of Turkey in Comrat.

The parties exchanged views on events taking place in the neighboring country and the possible social, economic and political consequences.

Bashkan and the consul discussed the growing influx of refugees from Ukraine. A temporary accommodation unit for refugees has been opened in Gagauzia.

"We are following with great concern the events that are taking place in our neighbors. We call on all leaders to start the dialogue and give up aggressive rhetoric. Identifying a compromise should be the main goal - compromise in this situation saves people's lives and destinies. "The higher the level of mutual rejection, the more difficult it will be to reach a compromise. But people want peace today," said Irina Vlah.

During the meeting, the stages of implementing the infrastructure projects in the Autonomy with the support of Turkey were also discussed.
