Police officer, brother to be investigated

Chisinau, March 2 / MOLDPRES /- Two brothers, one of them an INSP officer, have been sued for transporting cigarettes worth more than 1.3 million lei, without excise stamps.
According to the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases, the two are accused of transporting and storing cigarettes that were not marked with excise stamps.
By the deed committed - the evasion from the payment of excise duties for the transported and stored goods - the defendants damaged the state budget by over one million lei. The two are between 28 and 33 years old and live in Chisinau.
The perpetrators were stopped by the officers of the National Investigation Inspectorate, while transporting the goods from the center to the north, with the INSP officer at the wheel of the car, in service uniform, near the Sangerei district. Following the search of the means of transport, the law enforcement officers found in its cargo compartment packages containing 1.3 million cigarettes, which were recognized as criminal offenses.
