Chisinau, 5 April /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita attended a roundtable organized in Berlin by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS). The official highly appreciated KAS's contribution to consolidating democracy, developing state institutions and civil society in the Republic of Moldova, noting that despite regional instability, the country remains firmly committed to the European integration process, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
"It is the responsibility of the government to fulfill the promise we made when we demanded the trust of the people: that we will modernize our state, fight corruption, create economic opportunities and raise living standards. By doing so, we will bring the Republic of Moldova closer to our aspiration to become a full member of the European Union ", said Natalia Gavrilița.
At the same time, the Prime Minister said that in the context of the war in Ukraine, the efforts of the Chisinau authorities are currently focused on managing the refugee crisis: "It is an unprecedented challenge for Moldova, but despite our limited resources, thanks to the mobilization society, state institutions, business people, NGOs and external partners, we have managed to provide decent conditions for refugees. We still need fast and flexible aid mechanisms, including in the form of additional budget support and grants, to maintain political, economic and social stability. "
The premier spoke about the consequences of the military conflict on several important areas, referring to the disruption of supply chains, hybrid threats and above all, rising prices. Gavrilița highlighted the crisis in the energy sector, stressing that Moldova needs an urgent review of the existing energy policy and significant investments for diversification of sources.
"We want concrete projects with measurable objectives in all these areas, for which we hope to gain the trust and assistance of our European friends. A resilient Moldova is not only a contribution to a resilient Europe, but also to the resilience of Ukraine - the country that needs our support and solidarity the most, ” Gavrilița said.
