Japan to provide 9.5 million dollars to fight COVID-19, other infectious diseases in Moldova, Ukraine

Chisinau, April 5 / MOLDPRES /- As part of the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) assistance project to strengthen the level of preparedness and response to COVID-19 and other emerging infectious diseases funded by Japan, the government of Japan has approved 9,500,000 dollars in financial assistance for urgent response measures of the World Health Organization (WHO) on the control of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases in Ukraine and neighboring countries.
Thus, through the WHO Regional Office for Europe, medicines, personal protective equipment, medical devices and others will be provided to people displaced in Ukraine and neighboring countries such as Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and the Republic of Moldova.
The aid is part of additional US $ 100 million in emergency humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and neighboring countries, approved on April 5 by Japan.
