Germany continues to support programmes on Moldova's development

Chisinau, 5 April /MOLDPRES/ - The assistance programmes for Moldova’s development, with Germany’s support, as well as aspects of the bilateral cooperation were discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita and German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze in Berlin today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The Moldovan PM thanked for the constant support on behalf of Germany and for the fact that Moldova continued to be on the list of states benefiting from assistance provided through the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Natalia Gavrilita highlighted the important partnership of the government with the Germany Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the implementation of the key reforms in Moldova, including the one of the central and local public administration.

In the context, Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze encouraged the Moldovan government to continue the extensive programme of reforms and development of the country. She noted the importance of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The German minister noted that the Agenda ‘’has a key role in the development of all countries and the reducing of the poverty and inequality, as well as the ensuring of the sustainable development are fundamental challenges which should be approached jointly by all countries, based on an universal agenda.’’

Also, the German minister presented the BMZ Programme for Strengthening Moldova’s Resilience. It implies a large package of cooperation projects in more sectors, including assistance to back projects on the development of settlements and communities, with special emphasis on energy efficiency projects. Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita said that ‘’this programme will contribute to Moldova’s modernization and will fit our recently launched national programme – European Village.’’
