Chisinau, April 6 / MOLDPRES /- Moldova has exported fewer apples this year than in the same period in 2021.
State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Șarban said at a public debate that the export of apples has reached a delicate situation. "Moldovan farmers have exported only 17,000 tons of apples from March to early April," Sarban said.
According to the official, about 350 thousand tons of apples are harvested annually in the Republic of Moldova. "Of these, about 300-350 tons are directed to processing in the food industry, about 60-70 thousand tons are consumed domestically, and the rest are exported," said Vasile Serban.
At the same time, he noted that unilateral exports to the Russian Federation created risks. "Our country exports to the Russian Federation about 95-98% of total apple production. This is very risky, "he said.
Vasile Șarban said that at this moment, the producers have stored in warehouses 105 thousand tons of apples.
