Chisinau, 6 April /MOLDPRES/ - The law on natural gas will be amended, in order to strengthen the security in Moldova’s supply with natural gas. The parliament’s commission for economy, budget and finances today approved the concerned draft law.
The document ensures the transposition in the national legislation of the EU regulations on the integrity and transparency of the wholesale energy market and establishment of a code of the network concerning the adjusted tariffs for the transportation of gas.
The fact that the government is in charge of ensuring the state’s energy security, including of the gas supply sector, is to be clearly stipulated in the law.
To exclude abuses and actions of manipulation on the natural gas market, the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) is to be given additional powers as regards the carrying out of investigations and controls, as well as concerning the sanctioning of the participants which prove dishonesty.
The document also sees the setting of the so-called adjusted tariffs, with the basic principles due to be established, which are to allow ANRE to develop the concerned mechanism in the tariff methodology.
The draft also regulates the compulsoriness for the last option provider to stock, in one of the neighbor countries, natural gas reserves in a sufficient volume for a period of two months, taking into account that Moldova does not have the needed infrastructure for stocking.
