Chisinau, April 12 / MOLDPRES /- Last year, 217,477 people benefited from the services of the 40 Community Mental Health Centers in the Republic of Moldova, and 69,183 patients were registered.
About 55% of the addresses took place in rural areas, and 45% - in urban areas. Of the total number of adults who needed help, 60% were men and 40 percent were women. At the same time, last year, 28,620 children were consulted at community centers, 53% of whom live in rural areas.
The most common mental health problems found are schizophrenia, schizoid and delusional disorders (12,527 cases), neurotic disorders, stress-related disorders, and somatoform disorders, including anxiety, neurotic depression, severe stress response, and adjustment disorders. 4,879 cases). Dementia is also a common problem (3,977), as are mood disorders, including depression and bipolar disorder (3,417), but also psychological developmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorders (1,843 cases).
According to the World Health Organization, mental health and well-being are influenced by a wide range of factors. It can be about genetic predispositions, but also about social circumstances and the environment in which people live. Mental health problems are often caused by external factors such as abuse, divorce, mourning, or general circumstances such as poverty, instability, migration, and military conflict.
The World Health Organization estimates that one in four people has experienced or will face a mental health problem in their lifetime.
