Chisinau public transport registered losses of about 46 million lei

Chisinau, April 18 / MOLDPRES /- The Urban Bus Park and Electric Transport Chisinau recorded losses of about 46 million lei.

The head of the Transport and Communications Department of the Chisinau Municipal Council, Vitalie Mihalache, said at today's online meeting of the municipal services that the two passenger transport companies are experiencing losses, and these are due to the increase in fuel and electricity prices.

"In the first three months of 2022, due to the increase in the price of fuel and electricity, the municipal passenger transport enterprises registered 46 million lei in losses," said Mihalache.

At the same time, the official noted that an increase in the price of a public transport ticket would make the two municipal enterprises profitable.

Earlier, the city hall presented a Methodology for calculating travel fares in public transport, according to which the cost of a trip by trolleybus or bus should be six lei.
