Free movement to be restricted in setlements from Transnistrian region on 26 April -10 May

Chisinau, 26 April /MOLDPRES/ - Under a ‘’decision’’ approved by Tiraspol today, under the pretext of ensuring the security, the so-called red level of security alert was introduced in the region, with the establishment of special measures of intervention and limiting the citizens’ rights during 15 calendar days (26 April – 10 May 2022), the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
Among the measures instructed, we note an exaggerated restricting of the free movement of various categories of citizens, through the consolidation of the infrastructure of the unauthorized control posts on the perimeter of the administrative line, stopping and detail verification of each transport means which enters/leaves the region, obliging people who move to the Transnistrian region to be recorded by the Tiraspol structures.
We find out, regretfully, that these restrictive measures were introduced 4 days after the date when Tiraspol had informed about the simplification of the mechanism of free movement for the period of the Easter Holidays: https://gov.md/ro/content/libera-circulatie-regiunea-transnistreana-va-fi-simplificata-perioada-sarbatorilor-pascale
We note that, through this approach, the regime of the region’s self-isolation is re-established, with the setting of the restrictions earlier applied by Tiraspol during the pandemic period (16 March 2020 – 30 April 2021), significant and unjust limiting of rights and freedoms of the residents from both banks of Dniester, identification of a justification to illegally enhance the presence of the infrastructure of the control posts in the lack of the acceptance of the Joint Control Commission and to establish diverse barriers to the free movement of citizens.
The Reintegration Policies Bureau reiterates, on this occasion, the approach of principle as to the inadmissibility of creating obstacles to the free movement of people and transport, return to the lasting maintenance of a mechanism of free movement, similar to the one applicable on the right bank of Dniester, evacuation and withdrawal from the perimeter of the Security Zone of the unauthorized posts/barriers, uninterrupted carrying out of the commitments earlier assumed by Tiraspol in the negotiations and observance of the fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens, including to the free movement on all the territory of the country.
