Festival of wines, gastronomic delights returns with new edition in late May

Chisinau, May 4. / MOLDPRES /- The festival of wines and gastronomic delights in the regions with Protected Geographical Indication (IGP) of Moldova DeVin & DeGust returns with a new edition on May 29, on the pedestrian street Eugen Doga in the center of the capital.
According to the National Office of Vine and Wine (ONVV), the Wine of Moldova will be celebrated at the event, "a product of national pride, matched with traditional dishes and culture specific to each region with IGP."
"Any wine consumer who wants to choose the wine according to his tastes should know at least some details about the Protected Geographical Indications and Protected Designations of Origin (IGP / DOP). These quality markings act as a guarantor of the origin and quality of Moldovan wine, ensure final consumers that the product originates from a defined wine-growing area is obtained from certain grape varieties and is produced in accordance with strict rules" , indicates ONVV.
The festival focuses on the three IGP regions of the Republic of Moldova - Codru, Ștefan Vodă and Valul lui Traian, and visitors will learn more about these regions, area-specific histories, as well as the stories of people who produce wines. Guests will learn about responsible consumption of quality wine and its combination with local cuisine.
The Wine School will also take place during the festival, which will include master classes on responsible tasting of quality wines, but also on their correct association with local dishes.
"Through this event, we aim to familiarize people with the specifics of regions with Protected Geographical Indication and explain to them the reasons why wine from a region with PGI is different and should be appreciated at its fair value. Guests of the festival will be able to know and later taste the best wines, and in each area will discover the tourist attractions of the regions with IGP, will be able to visit the producers' stands and enjoy delicious dishes of national cuisine," ONVV acting head Elizaveta Breahnă said.
The event is organized by the National Office of Vine and Wine, UVV IGP Codru, Ștefan Vodă, Valul lui Traian and the Brandy and Divine Producers Association, in order to highlight the potential oeno- gastronomy of the regions with Protected Geographical Indication, increasing the notoriety of the country brand Moldovan Wine and quality wines with IGP.
