Moldova, North Macedonia to consolidate bilateral relations

Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/ -Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has had a meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister of North Macedonia Bujar Osmani, in the context of participation in the Council of Europe’s ministerial session, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
The agenda of discussions of the two diplomats comprised aspects on the strengthening of the bilateral relations, with emphasis on boosting the political dialogue, enhancement and diversification of the economic cooperation. The sides also referred to the present security situation, in the context of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
„I confirmed the quite good character of the bilateral relations, as well as the perspectives of their development, especially on the path of both countries’ advancement towards integration into the European Union,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said.
At the same time, the interlocutors discussed possibility of resuming approaches in the long run, in order to organize political consultations between the foreign affairs ministries of both countries.
As for the taking over of the OSCE chairmanship by North Macedonia in 2023, the Moldovan diplomacy head made an invitation to his Macedonian counterpart to pay a visit to Moldova.
