Moldovan head of state, director general of French Development Agency discuss future development projects

Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu, in the end of her visit to Paris, has met Director General of the French Development Agency (AFD) Remy Rioux. The discussion was focused, in particular, on the projects which this institution will carry out in Moldova starting from this year, the presidential press service has reported.
„The agency will provide Moldova with budgetary support and will finance projects of development in important sectors, such as energy, water and sewerage supply, irrigation and afforestation. We also referred to the financing of the modernization of the Chisinau-Ungheni railway segment, which will allow connecting the railway network of Moldova to the European network,’’ President Maia Sandu said at the meeting.
According to the head of state, France is an important partner of Moldova, with the relation between the two countries being due both to the affiliation with the area of Francophonie and ever stronger economic, cultural and inter-human relations.
The development projects which France will carry out in Moldova through AFD will consolidate even more this friendship and will contribute to the improvement of our citizens’ living standards,’’ Maia Sandu said.
