Chisinau, May 22 / MOLDPRES /- President Maia Sandu participated on Saturday evening in the celebration of Europe Day in Edinet. The head of state, together with mayor Constantin Cojocaru and EU Ambassador Janis Mazeiks toured the European Town and talked to the people present at the event, the presidential press service has reported.
"I am delighted to meet people with an open heart and confidence in our European future. I thanked them because, thanks to the kindness with which they help the refugees from Ukraine, today the whole world knows that Moldova is a country with generous people. It is also the message that all those with whom we spoke these days in Brussels have sent to our citizens ", said Maia Sandu.
According to the head of state, the European Union is, first and foremost, a peace project - and peace is what we value most these days. "The European Union is also a project of prosperity. The economic and infrastructure projects, realized with the EU support in Edineț and in other localities in Moldova, contribute to the modernization of our country ", she said.
The event ended with a concert by the Moldovan Youth Orchestra.
