Moldovan, Romanian officials broach current situation

Chisinau, May 25 / MOLDPRES /- During the visit to Davos, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu discussed with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Bogdan Aurescu the current developments regarding the security situation in the region and the implications of the Ukrainian war on Moldova and the created insecurity at European level, the MAEIE press service has reported.

Nicu Popescu reiterated that Romania is the most important supporter of the European perspective of our country's accession to the European Union. In this context, the promotion of European aspirations after the submission of the questionnaire was the central topic of the conversation.

The heads of the two diplomats agreed on the need to boost the initiatives that are taking place in a bilateral framework and which aim at the modernization and European development of our country. The Moldovan official expressed his confidence that the strengthening of the Romanian culture, history and language community between the two countries will be achieved through several initiatives and infrastructure projects. At the same time, the interlocutors agreed to identify solutions for streamlining transport at the Moldovan-Romanian border.

"I am glad that our meeting in Davos coincided with the decision of a mobile operator in the neighboring country to implement the reduction of roaming charges. This decision, for the benefit of the citizens of both countries, will increase interpersonal contacts and will facilitate the development of trade and economic relations ", Popescu said.
