Wine brand of Moldova nominated as the best red wine of the world

Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/ - The wine brand Fautor Negre 2017 from Moldova has been nominated the best red wine of the world, according to the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (Brussels World Competition), which announced the results of the Roșu & Alb (Red & White) session from 2022.
On 19-21 May, the Brussels World Competition, regarded as the most prestigious competition in the world, brought together wine industry experts, in order to taste more than 7,300 wines coming from about 40 countries.
According to the organizers, wines from six continents and 35 countries are among the competition’s winners. Moldova is on the ninth position according to the number of awards, with two golden medals and 31 silver ones.
„Fautor Negre 2017 of Moldova got the largest number of points on behalf of the jury at the red wine category out of 5,084 red wines from all over the world. Negre is a red combination of two native varieties – Feteasca Neagra and Rara Neagra – matured during 12 months in oak tree barrel. With 53 prizes in all, Moldova is leader in the Eastern Europe, followed by the Czech Republic (43), Bulgaria (38) and Romania (36). Twelve East European countries in all have received prizes at the competition this year, confirming the higher and higher quality of the wines from this region of the world,’’ the organizers noted.
The next Red & White session of Concours Mondial de Bruxelles will take place in Istria, Croatia, on 12-14 May 2023, where the competition will mark its 30th anniversary.
