Moldova to receive 150 million euros in financial assistance from EU

Chisinau, June 2 / MOLDPRES /- Chisinau government approved yesterday the start of negotiations and the approval of the signing of the Loan Facility Agreement between the Republic of Moldova, the European Union and the National Bank of Moldova. The decision was taken in the context of the approval by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union on 6 April this year of the decision to provide additional macro-financial assistance to the Republic of Moldova.
The document provides for the provision of financial assistance amounting to 150 million euros, of which 30 million euros - in the form of a grant. The disbursement will take place in three installments.
"Macro-financial assistance will facilitate the economic recovery of the Republic of Moldova by promoting a set of policies. Reforms target areas such as the energy sector, the fight against corruption, the rule of law and the business climate. The money will also be allocated to cover the budgetary needs ", indicates the Ministry of Finance.
Financial assistance will be available for two and a half years, starting on the first day after the entry into force of the Memorandum of Understanding.
