Moldovan parliament sets up commission for inflation control, monetary policy

Chisinau, 2 June /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today adopted with 52 votes for a decision on the creation of a special commission for the consideration of the decision-making process as to the information control and monetary policy in the last 18 months. The setting up of the special commission is needed in the context of the high pace of increase in the inflation and prices, as well as taking into account a recommendation of the Supreme Security Council from 27 May 2022.
”The world economy faces an unprecedented inflation wave and the countries of the world, including Moldova, fight to stop it. The society must know about the decisions taken to this end, about how efficient and qualitative they are,’’ the head of the parliament’s commission for economy, budget and finances, Dumitru Alaiba, said.
The parliamentary faction of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) will have four representatives in the commission: the head of the commission – Dumitru Alaiba, secretary – Adrian Balutel, members – Artur Mija and Marina Morozova. The parliamentary faction of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists and the one of the Shor Political Party did not put forward representatives in the commission.
The special commission for the consideration of the decision-making process as to the inflation control and monetary policy on the period of the last 18 months will involve in its work state’s competent authorities, will hear the sides and people involved in the decision-taking process as to the inflation control and monetary policy. In a one-month term, the commission will prepare the activity report, which will be published and presented in parliament.
