Moldovan president has meeting with Spanish PM

Chisinau, 3 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a meeting with Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez, on a working visit to Chisinau. This is the first visit to Moldova by a Spanish PM, the presidential press service has reported.
The officials discussed the bilateral agenda, Russia’s war in Ukraine, which started 100 days ago, as well as the support received by Moldova on these complicated days.
„We have quite good relations with Spain and we want to consolidate them – to deepen the economic cooperation, to carry out projects in the renewable energy sector and combating the effects of the climate changes, for the management of the water resources and waste management,’’ President Maia Sandu said after the meeting. The head of state appreciated the Spanish authorities’ openness for the Moldovan Diaspora, especially the progress on the much expected bilateral agreement in the social security field. She also welcomed the Spanish side’s willingness to negotiate an agreement on the conversion of driver’s licences, noting that Moldovan wanted to extend also the inter-university cooperation and for the teaching of the Spanish language in Moldova.
„I thanked the Spanish authorities for the support of Moldova’s European integration. Our countries have many things in common and our European aspirations represent a strong potential of the growth of the Moldovan-Spanish cooperation,’’ Maia Sandu said following the discussion with Pedro Sanchez.
