Moldovan president meets delegation of German Bundestag

Chisinau, 7 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met a delegation of the German Bundestag, made up of members of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Group of Germany’s legislative body and led by Johannes Schraps, the presidential press service has reported.
The discussions were focused on the economic and humanitarian challenges faced by Moldova, in the wake of the war in Ukraine, as well as the agenda of reforms and the country’s European integration process.
The head of state thanked for the strong partnership between the two countries, as well as for the support provided during years for the strengthening of the democracy and development of the economic sector. At the same time, President Maia Sandu highlighted Germany’s decisive role in the organization of the Berlin Donor Conference in last April and the backing provided in the context of the Ukrainian refugees’ crisis.
The delegation members expressed gratitude to the Moldovan citizens who had helped, in solidarity and generously, refugees from Ukraine. They gave assurances that they would support Moldova in the carrying out of development projects in various sectors, in an effort to manage the economic and energy crisis, as well as in the implementation of the reforms due to get the country closer to the European Union.
