Scholarships of performance sportspeople to increase in Moldova

Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/ - Performance sportspeople will receive higher scholarships. At a today’s meeting, the members of the parliament’s commission for culture, education, research, youth, sport and mass media approved a draft law to this end.    

The document provides for the doubling of the scholarships, which presently vary between 3,000 lei (about 150 euros) and 25,000 lei, depending on the performance achieved by the sportsperson.  

Also, through this draft law, decision-makers propose the regulation, at the legislative level, of the measures of social protection and financial supply of performance sportspeople. Presently, this is partially regulated, under government decision.  

Expenses worth up to 15 million lei are envisaged for increasing the performance scholarships. At present, 114 sportspeople of Moldova benefit from performance scholarships.
