Chisinau, June 9 / MOLDPRES /- Law enforcement officers applied road markings to streamline traffic near customs posts. They will ensure that vehicles pass in the opposite direction on the road segments where the trucks are parked.

According to the General Inspectorate of Police, on the sections of road with a single lane, the police in common with other authorities began to apply road markings every 300 meters, in the form of a border, with a length of 20 meters, as shelter space, so that vehicles can be allowed to pass in the opposite direction. The markings are temporary, yellow and it is forbidden to park trucks on them.

During yesterday's meeting of the Executive, the Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița asked the relevant institutions to be actively involved in streamlining the traffic of trucks parked for several days at the state border crossing points and to create the necessary conditions for drivers who are in waiting. At the same time, law enforcement officers have the task of monitoring road traffic and ensuring public order near customs posts.

According to the authorities, the closure of the Black Sea ports and the precarious condition of the railway infrastructure have put enormous pressure on the logistics in the region. The waiting time for leaving Ukraine can reach 5 days, and for leaving Moldova is 3-4 days. The situation remains difficult at the crossing points in European countries, the waiting time being a day or two.

Authorities have announced that the Executive is taking action to improve the situation at the border - corridors have been set up for trucks carrying perishable goods, but also for those without goods. There are also discussions with the Romanian side in order to increase the processing speed at the crossing points.
