Moldovan deputy premier meets European officials

Chisinau, June 9 / MOLDPRES /- On the sidelines of the working visit to Brussels, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration held meetings with senior officials and diplomats to promote our country's European perspective, the MAEIE press service has reported.
In a meeting with Janusz Wojciechowski, the European Commissioner for Agriculture, officials discussed the impact of the war on Moldovan farmers, the increase in export quotas in the EU and the importance of the Commission's support for our country's candidate status.
In talks with llze Juhansone, Secretary General of the European Commission, and Katarina Mathernova, Deputy Director General of the Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission, Popescu said that Moldova wants a clear prospect of EU membership and advancement towards candidate country status.
The Chisinau official exchanged views with European External Action Service Secretary General Stefano Sannino on advancing our high-level political and security dialogue with the European Union.
In preparation for the European Commission's Opinion, the Moldovan official spoke with Fernando Guimares and Martina Laudrant, members of the cabinet of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Popescu also met with Frédéric Bernard, Head of Cabinet and Magdalena Grono, cabinet member of the European Council President Charles Michel.
Popescu also had a meeting with the permanent representatives of France, Spain, Denmark, Greece, Bulgaria, Poland and the Czech Republic to the European Union, during an event hosted by Iulia Matei, Romania's Permanent Representative to the EU. In this context, the Moldovan diplomat thanked Romania for firm, unconditional and fraternal support for the European integration of the country.
"We have concluded the work program in Brussels with the conviction that our country has many friends who support the promotion of our European perspective. Thank you to our team in Brussels that works tirelessly to promote the irreversible path of European integration ", Popescu said.
