Moldovan, German presidents discuss by phone

Chisinau, 10 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today discussed by phone with President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the presidential press service has reported.

The counterparts discussed the current situation in our region, as well as the social and economic consequences of the war in Ukraine. The head of state thanked President Steinmeier for the support provided by Germany both to manage the flow of refugees and for development projects.

The two heads of state also talked about the process of reforms in Moldova. President Steinmeier confirmed Germany’s support for the changes started by the authorities, which will improve the people’s living and will help carry out Moldova’s European agenda. For her part, President Maia Sandu said that Moldova needed wide support for its European option and that it relied on Germany’s backing to this end.
