Southern district of Moldova to host National Festival of Grape in next September

Chisinau, 4 July /MOLDPRES/ - The National Festival of Grape this year will be held in the southern Cimislia town on 18 September. In the context, the first organizational meeting took place at the headquarters of the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry (MAIA).
„This event dedicated to vine growers, which has already become traditional, will enhance the promotion of the sector of producing the varieties of table grapes in Moldova. It will also contribute to the enhancement of the competitiveness of the native producers for turning to good account the domestic and external markets for the sale of grapes,’’ Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Viorel Gherciu said.
In the official’s opinion, the festival is a good occasion also to promote the producers of planting material, for the sector’s representatives to exchange experience, to identify perspectives of selling grapes and export them abroad. ‘’It is necessary that we strengthen this sector; therefore, we expect as many as possible vine growers and exporters, economic agents interested, associations of producers and exporters, mass media representatives,’’ Gherciu noted.
The festival is organized by the Cimislia district council, the competent ministry, with the participation of the National Office of Vine and Wine. According to the organizers, more contests, tastings of grapes, exhibitions, including of popular craftsmen, will take place at the event.
