Cervical screening service to be digitalized in Moldova

Chisinau, 22 July /MOLDPRES/ - Women eligible for the carrying out of the cervical screening will be identified and notified automatically about the need of testing, results of investigations and treatment, due to the new Automated Information System, Cervical screening register. The cabinet approved a decision to this effect today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The register will facilitate physicians’ effort to monitor patients, especially those with pre-cancer states and cervical cancer. At the same time, the register will facilitate the process of record and exchange of data between physicians involved in the providing of cervical screening services, necessary for the diagnosing, treatment and supervision of patients.
The automated Information System, Cervical screening register, is implemented within the project, Prevention of cervical cancer in Moldova, financed by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The main goal of this register is to enhance the rate of early detection of pre-cancer states and prevent the cervical cancer.
Annually, 600-700 women are diagnosed with pre-cancer states in Moldova and 300-350 women receive diagnose of cervical cancer.
