18 localities disconnected from power due to heavy rain

Chisinau, August 10 /MOLDPRES/- Due to bad weather conditions, in the evening of August 9, consumers in 18 localities of the districts of Strășeni, Anenii Noi, Hâncești, Găgăuzia, Cantemir, Cimișlia, Leova, as well as the municipality of Chișinău were left without electricity.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations /IGSU/, three localities in Găgăuzia and Cantemir districts remain partially disconnected from electricity this morning. Specialized teams are working in the field to restore electricity to consumers.

On Iazului street no. 2/4, IGSU employees pumped water from a basement of an apartment block. The intervention of specialists was also needed in the Grătiesti locality of the municipality, after a branch fell over a gas pipe. On Kyiv Street 12 in the capital, the rescuers had the mission of clearing a tree that had fallen on top of a car. No casualties were recorded as a result of the incident.

Tree clearing was also carried out on Matei Basarab, Mihail Sadoveanu and Bogdan Voievod streets in the capital. In Comrat, rescuers from the south of the country had the mission of clearing a tree that had fallen over a gas pipeline from Kirova street no. 15.
