Energocom company to have legal competence to purchase, store gas

Chisinau, August 10 /MOLDPRES/- To ensure the security of the supply of natural gas to consumers in emergency situations, the government approved today the decision that imposes Energocom public service obligation. This will create a legal mechanism that will allow Energocom to initiate the procurement procedure transparently of the necessary quantities of natural gas for their storage.

According to the government's communication and protocol department, the document provides for the establishment of the obligation to sign between the suppliers of last option and Energocom of a framework contract for the sale-purchase of purchased and/or stored natural gas, in the context of the imposed public service obligation.

The project also stipulates that the sale of natural gas to suppliers of last resort will take place in cases where:

- the delivery of natural gas from the market related to ongoing contracts is suspended and/or limited;

- it is necessary to supply consumers with quantities of natural gas additional to those established in ongoing contracts;

- the price of natural gas delivered by Energocom is lower than the price of natural gas contracted by suppliers of last resort.

Energocom is to carry out natural gas purchases based on the procedure established by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which will provide an increased degree of transparency of the tenders.
