Over 300 employees of interior ministry participated in liquidation of consequences of storm in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, August 10 /MOLDPRES/- Over 300 employees from the subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) participated today in the liquidation of the consequences of the storm in the capital.
According to the MAI, the teams of rescuers and firefighters carried out 42 interventions, of which 38 in the municipality of Chisinau. Thus, in 21 cases the water was pumped from the housing blocks and households, and in another 19 trees and branches were cleared. The intervention of specialists was also needed in the Grătiesti locality of the Chisinau municipality, after a branch fell over a gas pipe. In the Râșcani sector, the rescuers had the mission of clearing a tree that had fallen on top of a car. As a result of the incident, no one was hurt. 44 employees and 13 special vehicles were involved in removing the effects of the calamity.
At the same time, the employees of the General Police Inspectorate ensured the flow of road traffic and its redirection on the adjacent streets. In the same way, the police limited access to the affected areas, supported the unblocking of routes and provided help to people stuck in cars.
Also, in five intersections, road traffic was stopped, on the grounds that the road was flooded. Traffic flow was needed on 16 streets and five roundabouts due to fallen trees. 248 employees and 94 mobile teams were involved in the actions.
Likewise, 130 employees of the General Carabinieri Inspectorate participated in the unblocking of routes and traffic lanes in the capital's sectors. At the same time, they provided the necessary support in unblocking access to the courtyards of the blocks, as well as in towing blocked cars.
To liquidate the consequences of the bad weather, 2.5 million lei (about 125 thousand euros) were allocated from the Reserve Fund of the Chisinau municipality. The capital's authorities propose that in the next three days the municipal services will remove the consequences of the storm.
