Second case of monkeypox confirmed in Moldova

Chisinau, August 16 /MOLDPRES/- A citizen of the Republic of Moldova, who returned to the country on August 15 from the city of Paris, was diagnosed today with monkey pox.
According to the National Public Health Agency, the symptoms, such as general weakness, profuse sweating, multiple skin rashes, appeared last week.
Arriving in the country, the man traveled, together with a friend, by car from the airport to the Institute of Emergency Medicine, to be examined by a doctor, who redirected him to the Toma Ciorbă Hospital for Infectious Diseases, where he was admitted with suspected monkeypox.
Also today, specimens were collected and transported for laboratory investigations to the National Public Health Agency. The RT-PCR test for monkeypox was positive. The epidemiological investigation is ongoing. We mention that the patient's condition is medium serious, stable.
The first case of monkeypox was confirmed in the Republic of Moldova on August 8.
