Chisinau, August 18 /MOLDPRES/- At the request of the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), the Judicial Court in Thonon-les-Bains, France, ordered the seizure of a property in the French city of Sciez - one of the elite areas of France - belonging to a citizen of the Republic of Moldova Vladimir Plahotniuc.
According to PCCOCS, the French authorities informed the Prosecutor's Office about this fact, through a notification received recently. According to the estimates of the French authorities, the seized property is worth more than 4.2 million euros. The seizure applied to him aims to guarantee the possibility of applying the complementary penalty of confiscation of the asset within the criminal case investigated by the Moldovan prosecutors.
Citing the Cypriot authorities, the French investigative judge also indicates that the accused Vladimir Plahotniuc allegedly created a criminal network at national and international level in 2009-2019, and with the involvement of the accused Ilan Shor, they registered Cypriot and Panamanian companies in Great Britain and opened accounts banking for the deposit of money embezzled from banks in the Republic of Moldova.
The prosecutors announce that in the future, the seized asset is to be administered by AGRASC – a French structure similar to the Agency for the Recovery of Criminal Assets of the CNA from Moldova, until a solution is issued on the file.
