Petrol, diesel prices to increase over weekend

Chisinau, August 19 /MOLDPRES/- For the next three days, August 20-22, the maximum retail prices of the main standard oil products were set by the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) at the level of: 25.69 lei/liter - for petrol COR 95 (+ 0.08 lei); 25.94 lei/liter - for standard diesel (+ 0.16 lei).

In the last few days, after a long period of decline, developments on the international market of petroleum products demonstrate a stabilization process with a tendency for quotations to rise. As a result, this week fuel prices registered a slight increase after eight consecutive weeks of decline.

"During that period, prices increased by 0.08 lei/liter or 0.3% for COR 95 petrol and by 0.29 lei/liter or 1.1% for standard diesel", according to ANRE.

The increases recorded during the current week are due to the increase in Platts quotes for petroleum products on international exchanges, the indicator that underlies the current method of determining the price level. According to specialist analyses, one of the major factors affecting the quotations is the ongoing instability in the supply of crude oil refineries and the insufficiency of petroleum products on the main markets on the European continent.
