Chisinau educational institutions ready for new school year

Chisinau, August 22 /MOLDPRES/- The capital's educational institutions are ready for the new school year. The announcement was made today by deputy head of the General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sport Andrei Pavaloi at an operative meeting of the municipal services.

In 93 educational institutions in the capital the repair works have been completed, and in another 88 they will be completed by the end of the current week.

"With reference to the liquidation of the consequences of the bad weather of August 9, the rehabilitation works will begin at the end of this week. The most interventions will be made at the institutions in the Ciocana and Râșcani sectors, especially for the repair of roofs and pavilions. The works will not jeopardize the educational process. We will make an effort to have them completed before the rains start," Pavaloi said.

According to estimates, the damage caused to educational institutions is around 10 million lei. Last week, the Chisinau Municipal Council supplemented the reserve fund of the capital with 20 million lei (about 1 million euros), for the liquidation of the consequences of the bad weather on August 9.

At the same time, the mayor of the capital, Ion Ceban, requested in today's meeting that the head of the General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sports in the municipality of Chisinau "ensure that the public transport travel passes were distributed to all pupils so that they can travel for free".
