Bus station concession contract terminated

Chisinau, August 25 /MOLDPRES/- The public-private partnership contract for the modernization of the bus stations was terminated due to the non-presentation of the performance guarantee and non-fulfillment of the assumed investment plan.

According to the Public Property Agency, the Government, through the monitoring commission, decided today to cancel the contract. In May, the contractor was notified to remedy the situation within 90 days, which was not done.

According to the contract, for one month, the private partner is to hand over all the assets taken over in December 2018 from the State Enterprise Railway and Bus Stations "in good condition, functional and free of any burden or obligation". The legislation sees that in the event of the termination of the public-private partnership, the private partner is obliged to ensure the continuity of the activity or the provision of services until they are taken over by the public partner.

The meeting of the monitoring commission also focused on the action plan for taking over the assets by the state.

The bus station concession contract was signed on 17 December 2018 with Gările Auto Moderne Ltd for a term of 25 years. Under the contract, the private partner has to modernize 30 railway and bus stations, and the works will not exceed three years.
