Moldovan parliament adopted project on strengthening capacities of public authorities for EU accession

Chisinau, August 26 /MOLDPRES/- Parliament, convened in an extraordinary session voted today on a draft law whose purpose is to strengthen the capacities of public authorities to implement the requirements for joining the European Union. The document was supported by 54 MPs, in the first reading.
The draft law sees setting up the positions of secretary of state and deputy general secretary of the ministry. The opportunity to establish the function will be at the discretion of each head, depending on the volume, complexity of the tasks and the degree of involvement of the respective ministry in the accession process.
Also, it is proposed to create the Cabinet of the Secretary General of the Government, in order to exercise in an operative manner the tasks and attributions of the Secretary General of the Executive.
Another objective of the project is to strengthen the relations between the Cabinet of Ministers and the Parliament.
The position of deputy secretary general of the ministry and that of secretary of state will be established with the publication of the new law in the Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova, and the cabinet of the secretary general of the Government - on January 1, 2023.
The document is to be voted on in the second reading.
The Parliament convened in an extraordinary session on 26 August -8 September.
