Moldovan president meets UNICEF executive director

Chisinau, August 29 /MOLDPRES/- President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu met today with UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell, who is on a working visit to the region, the presidential press service has reported.
The officials discussed the social and educational projects carried out in our country by UNICEF, as well as the situation of refugee children from Ukraine.
The head of state thanked the UNICEF representative for the contribution made by the UN agency to improving the living and educational conditions of Moldovan children, and for the support provided during the Covid-19 pandemic. In terms of the children of Ukrainian families who are in our country because of the war, Maia Sandu said that joint efforts and continuous international support are needed to ensure their access to social, health and educational services.
The sides also talked about bilateral cooperation in the education. Maia Sandu reaffirmed her support for the education reform in Moldova, to be able to offer every child and young person the chance for quality studies.
