Military sappers demined over 130 explosive objects in August

Chisinau, 1 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- National Army sappers demined over 130 explosive objects in Ștefan Vodă, Hâncești, Anenii Noi, Ungheni, Bălți, Ialoveni, Leova and Șoldănești in August.
According to the Ministry of Defense, during this period, 137 explosive objects and 535 cartridges of different calibers were found and destroyed. "One of the most dangerous missions was carried out in Răscăieți village, Ștefan Vodă district, by a team of the Codru Engineer Battalion. In this locality, as a result of the agricultural works, 100 anti-tank mines, four hand grenades and an artillery projectile were found", said the head of the National Army's Engineering Service, Lieutenant-Colonel Igor Livițchi.
All the ammunition was from the World War II period. They were in a deplorable condition and were destroyed in the field under maximum security.
Since the beginning of the year, 127 demining missions have been executed, as a result of which 434 explosive objects of various types and 11,561 cartridges were liquidated.
According to the Ministry of Defense, during the agricultural season, the number of unexploded ordnance found in the ground increases. The sappers warn that if an explosive object has been found, it is necessary to notify the 112 Service, mark the place, do not touch the ammunition with your hand or other objects, do not hit or move the ammunition found in the ground or on the surface, not to disassemble the warheads or other components and not to throw the explosive object into fire.
