Moldovan president discussed with management of Gagauz autonomy, mayors of region

Chisinau, 3 Sep. /MOLDPRES/-On a working visit to Comrat, President Maia Sandu met with leadership of the autonomy, members of the People's Assembly of Gagauzia and mayors of the region. The discussions concerned the situation in the country and the problems of the people and communities of Gagauzia, the presidential press service has reported.
Maia Sandu said that today the main task of the authorities, including those from Comrat is to ensure peace in the country. The head of state also said that public authorities at all levels must work together to prepare the country for the cold season in the context of the unprecedented energy crisis. The president noted that the central authorities are making every effort to provide the country with energy resources and to increase the income of the citizens during this difficult period for all.
Maia Sandu outlined other directions of activity for the next period: the fight against corruption, improving the business environment and attracting investments, developing agriculture and the impact of climate change that affects especially the southern region of the country, modernizing the infrastructure. The mayors welcomed the launch of the European Village National Program, at the first stage of which 19 projects worth over 70 million lei were selected in Gagauzia.
At the end of the visit, Maia Sandu made a short stop at the Vinuri de Comrat Company, one of the companies benefiting from European funding. The company has a history of more than a hundred years, and following the modernization made in recent years, it has managed to expand its exports to more than 20 countries.
