National Anticorruption Center detained two men after allegedly promising to solve smuggling case

Chisinau, 7 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- Officers of the National Anticorruption Center detained today two men in an influence peddling case.

According to CNA, the two would have promised a young man that they could intervene with the prosecutors handling a smuggling case to get them to reclassify the incriminated crime into a lighter one. For this, the suspects would have asked him 15,000 euros.

The men would have conducted several negotiations with the person investigated for smuggling, initially asking for 9,000 euros, and later another 6,200 euros. The suspects would have received their money in two installments.

This morning the law enforcement officers searched the homes of the two suspects. Both were detained for 72 hours and placed in the CNA isolator.
