Chisinau, 20 September /MOLDPRES/ - The normative framework on non-discrimination and ensuring equality will be revised. At the today’s meeting, the members of the parliament’s commission for human rights and interethnic relations approved the report for the adoption of a document to this end in the first reading.
The document’s authors propose criteria of non-discrimination, improvement of the collection of data in terms of equality, annual monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the results and consolidation of the institutional framework.
At the same time, the Contravention Code might be completed with the notions of ‘’harassment’’ and ‘victimization.’’ Thus, any undesirable behavior, which leads to the creation of an intimidating, hostile or offensive environment, the goal or effect of which is to harm the dignity of a person, will be sanctioned.
Another provision of the draft is the completion of the law on ensuring equality with a string of discriminatory criteria, including the ones referring to the social, national origin, social status, health condition, political opinions or any other opinions. The inclusion of these criteria comes from the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights.
