Moldovan president has meeting with president of Czech Parliament's Chamber of Deputies

Chisinau, 19 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a meeting with Markéta Pekarová Adamová, President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, which presently holds the European Union’s Presidency.
According to the presidential press service, the two officials discussed the next steps in the Euro-integration process, including the authorities’ effort to implement those nine recommendations formulated by EU, when it gave Moldova the status of country candidate for accession. The justice reform and the combating of corruption stay priority on the governance’s agenda.
In the context, President Maia Sandu stressed the need for EU to introduce tougher and clearer sanctions for corruption acts, no matter the country where they happen. The cleaning of justice and the conviction of thieves would strengthen the people’s confidence that the democracy and the rule of law state can yield results.
For her part, the head of the Czech legislative body said that her country was willing to share its experience and good practices of accession to EU, as well as to provide support for the organization of the second Summit of the European Political Community in Chisinau.
