Chisinau, 20 October /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița had a discussion with a delegation of American congressmen, led by David Price, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The meeting's agenda included current issues, such as providing the country with energy resources on the eve of winter, deepening Moldovan-American cooperation in the human rights and promoting democracy.

Natalia Gavrilița welcomed the presence of the American officials in Chisinau and appreciated the interest they show in helping our country overcome the more complicated moments.

"The fact that you are here is a sign of friendship and solidarity between the USA and Moldova. You already know that we are facing a complicated time in our history. We are facing a hard winter and an unprecedented economic recession at European level. But, despite all the difficulties, we manage to keep the country on the European path we started, staying focused on reforming justice, strengthening the rule of law, attracting investments and ensuring a decent life for citizens. As without prosperity, there can be no democracy. I am sure that with the support of external partners, we will be able to strengthen our country's budget and overcome all challenges", Gavrilita said.

The American officials expressed their appreciation for the constant efforts made by the Government in dealing with the recent crises and in reforming the country. At the same time, they reconfirmed the support of the United States of America for the authorities and citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
