Chisinau, 20 October /MOLDPRES/ - The local administrations in 2022 avail of 868 million lei (about 43.4 million euros) from the Road Fund for the carrying out of roads’ infrastructure projects. Starting from this year, the money accumulated from the taxes for the use of roads is fully earmarked to the local budgets.
In the central Ialoveni town, the local council supplemented the transfers from the Road Fund with its own resources. Thus, till the end of 2022, 20 streets from this settlement are to be repaired.
Finance Minister Dumitru Budianschi said that the mayoralties can integrate these sums in bigger projects, with more financers. ‘’Mayors can consolidate the resources from bigger projects, use loans. They also can resort to other financing instruments, to the local development fund or the Agency of Intervention and Payments for Agriculture, so that it fits the project the settlement needs. The condition is that the sums are spent this year and only for projects on roads’ infrastructure,’’ Budianschi noted.
The full allocation of the tax on roads’ use to mayoralties is a change made by the cabinet this year and accepted by the parliament, within the fiscal and budgetary policy.
