Birth rate decreasing in Moldova

Chisinau, 20 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Public Services Agency (ASP) today informed that, during 2018-2022, the civil status services and the local public administration authorities of the first level (mayoralties) had recorded a lower number of births.
According to ASP, 31,954 birth acts were registered in 2018, 29,749 – in 2019, 29,134 – in 2020, 26,595 – in 2021 and 18,430 birth acts were recorded in January-August 2022.
Thus, the Public Services Agency records a decrease in the number of births registered in 2021; most of them were recorded in the Chisinau city – 7,630, followed by the settlements: Balti – 1,246, Ungheni – 905, Ialoveni – 893, Orhei – 872, Cahul – 822, Hancesti – 749, Sangerei – 675.
„The lowest number of births in 2021 was registered in the settlements Basarabeasca – 159, Vulcanesti - 240, Soldanesti - 253, Donduseni - 274, Ocnita - 278, Taraclia - 287, Leova - 335, Rezina - 336 and Cimislia – 365,” ASP added.
