Prosecutors announced new details of case on illegal financing of Shor Party

Chisinau, Oct. 24 /MOLDPRES/- The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office announced today that five people suspected in the case on illegal financing of the Shor Party have been placed in preventive detention.

According to the prosecutor's office, as part of the criminal investigation, on 22 October the Ciocana-based Chisinau Court considered 22 complaints submitted by prosecutors on "preventive arrest" measure to the persons involved in the scheme of accepting the financing of the Shor Party from a organized criminal group.

As a result of the examination, five people were pre-arrested, and 17 accused people - under house arrest.

Also, the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office announces that on 21 October the case prosecutor appealed the decision of the court by which Marina Tauber was ordered to be "provisionally released under judicial control". The appeal hearing by the Chisinau Court of Appeal was set for October 25.

The arrested persons are charged with the crime of complicity in accepting party financing from an organized criminal group. They risk a fine or imprisonment of two to seven years.
