Moldovan National Anticorruption Centre detains police officer in file on influence peddling

Chisinau, 25 October /MOLDPRES/ - A police officer of the General Police Inspectorate (IGP) today was detained in a file on influence peddling. He is suspected of having accepted 2,500 euros from a woman, in order to influence the hushing up of a criminal file.
According to the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA), the law-enforcer would have promised that he can influence public people from the Rascani Police Inspectorate, as well as prosecutors, who manage a cause, to get out a woman from criminal prosecution.
Anticorruption officers and prosecutors today made searches in the personal vehicle and at the home of the suspect, where financial means and information bearers were taken.
Following criminal prosecution actions, the police officer was detained and placed in isolation ward for 72 hours.
