Eight people get status of suspect in file on preparing mass disorders in Moldova

Chisinau, 4 November /MOLDPRES/ - Eight people have received status of suspect following searches made in the settlements Chisinau, Balti, Drochia and Ungheni today, in a file on preparing mass disorders on the period 18 September – 16 October.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, within searches, 380,000 lei (about 19,000 euros) was raised. The money would have been collected from illicit activities and was to be used for the luring, organization, carriage and remuneration of people who would have provoked mass disorders.
The suspect people have ages between 23 and 41 years and have their residence in Chisinau, Balti, Drochia and Ungheni districts. They are suspected of having undertaken actions of preparing mass disorders, which regarded the transportation from various regions of Moldova to Chisinau of more people, especially young ones, among whom earlier convicted persons, instigated to commit new offences and lawless actions. In particular, it is about the putting of violent resistance to law-enforcers who ensure public order.
At the same time, among the suspects, there are also people who had the role to identify police employees, who ensured public order at protests, in order to intimidate and discredit them.
Under the legislation, the suspects run the risk of sentenced to 4-8 years of imprisonment.
